Hours Calculator
Track hours worked across the week with start time, end time, and break duration per day, and see each daily total plus the weekly total in hours, minutes, and decimal hours.
Weekly total
—
How It Works
For each day, worked hours equal the time from start to end minus the break duration. Overnight shifts (end before start) are handled by rolling the end time into the next day.
Each day's total is shown in hours and minutes and in decimal hours (for example, 7h 30m and 7.50). The weekly total sums every day's decimal hours and converts back to hours and minutes.
Days with no start or end time are skipped. Break time is subtracted only when the day has valid start and end times.
Frequently Asked Questions
How are overnight shifts handled?
If the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator treats the end as falling on the next day, so a 10 PM to 6 AM shift counts as 8 hours.
Can I enter breaks in minutes?
Breaks are entered in minutes as a plain number, which is then subtracted from the day's worked time. Enter 0 or leave blank for no break.
What is decimal hours and why does it matter?
Decimal hours convert minutes into a fraction of an hour (30 minutes = 0.50 hours). Payroll and billing systems often use decimal hours for easier multiplication by an hourly rate.
